The Foundation and the City Council Committee have had several meetings recently.  Lots of good ideas were shared, and there is strong interest in moving forward.  The Foundation will look at costs for a funding feasibility study  and  library staff will work on minimum square footage for a new building. There is discussion with the school district regarding a possible partnership location.

We believe strongly that a good library is an essential public service.    In 2014  SHKS Consultants completed a Needs Assessment Study. The final report is available here. (Note this is a large file and takes a while to open.) City of Mount Vernon is currently gathering input for their comprehensive plan. We encourage you to add comments about a new library in the Survey.
