The reason I am a member of the Mount Vernon Library Foundation is that I was born in Croatia, and came to US in 1961 as an exchange student where I resided with my Aunt and Uncle in Anacortes for six years while I attended Anacortes public school system. At that time I was unable to speak a word of English. I have always had the love for the library as I have found the library to be an invaluable place to go to check the books out and do research and find out about anything and everything that one wants to know about the world and life in general.
When I graduated from Anacortes High School I attended Skagit Valley College. I have been married to my husband Ed for 47 years. I worked for the City of Mount Vernon for 35 years as an accounting tech. I retired in September 2014 and I just enjoy being on the MV Library board and the MV Library Foundation. I would encourage anyone interested serving on the MVLF as it is truly rewarding. Our MVLF is working hard to raise funds to be able to build a new library that will be large enough and able to keep up with our present technology, and the diversity of Mount Vernon population.
